OUR GOALS

Our goal: 100% of our purchased electricity will come from renewable sources and we will reduce our carbon footprint by 25% across our value chain.

Climate change has a far-reaching impact on our business and the communities where we live and work. At AB InBev, we are building climate resilience by committing to transition our global operations to 100% renewable electricity and reduce our emissions by 25% across the value chain. These science-based targets keep our global emissions in line with 1.5 degrees Celsius, as per the recommendation issued by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Specifically, we will reduce emissions in Scopes 1 and 2 by 35% from our 2017 baseline and we will reduce emissions across our value chain (Scopes 1,2, and 3) by 25% against our 2017 baseline. As many others, indirect emissions from our value chain make up more than 80% of our emissions. Partnerships are critical in order to create more resilient environments that can help thrive for the next 100 years. Join us in creating a transition into clean, renewable technologies that will help decrease our joint carbon footprint.

Our Carbon Footprint

We want to build a more sustainable world where high-quality crops, clean water, circular economies, and renewable sources of energy are a shared way of life for businesses and communities alike. Most of all, we want an equitable and prosperous world.

Through our 2025 Sustainability Goals, we aim to create measurable positive impact, drive inclusive growth and improve livelihoods.

Our 2025 goal: 100% of our farmers will be skilled, connected, and financially empowered.

We rely on the highest-quality crops to make the world’s most beloved beers. Our key crops are barley, rice, corn, hops, sorghum and cassava. Through our agricultural development programs and 100+ agronomists in 13 countries, we work with over 20,000 farmers to support the sustainable growth of six priority crops:(barley, cassava, hops, maize, rice, sorghum).

Our 2025 goal: 100% of our communities in high-stress areas will have measurably improved water availability and quality.

Water is a key ingredient in all of our products, so we value every drop. But more than just a key resource for our business, clean water is a critical resource for the economic, social and environmental well-being of every community around the world.

Our 2025 goal: 100% of our products will be in primary packaging that is returnable or made from majority recycled content.

We are constantly looking for ways to invest in recycling supply chains, increase the recycled content in our packaging, lightweight our packaging and protect and promote returnable bottles which are 8x less carbon-intensive than one-way glass bottles. To achieve our circular packaging vision, we focus on four key areas: Reuse, Reduce, Recycle, and Rethink.

We want to live in a sustainable and equitable world where high-quality crops, clean water, closed loop economies, and renewable sources of energy are a shared way of life for industry and consumers. Most of all, we want a world with
dramatically lowered carbon emissions and a secure climate.

After a decade of delivering strong sustainability results, in March 2018, we were proud to announce our most
ambitious set of sustainability goals ever to help realize this world. Our 2025 goals are focused on four, vital SDG areas where we – in partnership with our suppliers, NGOs, governments, and others – can drive the most impact.
